Description
Mr. Bobby Solhi is a tax lawyer and partner of TaxChambers LLP.   Bobby has a broad legal practice focused on tax law where he advises on the GST/HST, individual and corporate tax, and Ontario provincial/municipal taxes.

He is often recommended to advise on and implement ownership structures, re-organizations and business succession plans involving the use of trusts, partnerships, and sophisticated corporate structures.  Bobby is a valued tax advisor to many high-net worth individuals and privately held companies in Canada.  Bobby is also an expert tax advisor to many international consultancy firms with Canadian tax law concerns.

Bobby also represents our clients in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other tax authorities in audit, objection and appeal, and before the Tax Court of Canada and Federal Court system.  He is a former a legislation design specialist with Tax Policy Division of the Ontario Ministry of Finance where contributed to several high profile projects in tax administration, policy design, and the introduction of the HST in Ontario.  Prior to his time at the Ministry of Finance,  Bobby practiced tax law as  a member at one of Canada’s largest tax law firms where he worked in domestic and international tax planning, estate and succession planning, and tax dispute resolution and litigation.

Mr. Solhi was the recipient of numerous awards including the Honourable Paul I.B. and Mrs. Tevis Staniszewski Award, Gowlings LLP Prize in IP Law and Technology, and the Millennium Excellence Scholarship.

Mr. Solhi is a regular writer and contributor to various tax law publications. Bobby is a featured Canadian tax law expert for LexisNexis’ Legal Practice Advisor publication, where he writes extensively and develops practical modules on tax law for lawyers involved in corporate and commercial transactions. Bobby is also a contributing editor to Sales and Use Tax, a quarterly journal published by the Federated Press devoted to Canadian commodity tax developments, including the GST, excise taxes and provincial sales taxes.
