Darrell is a partner at Beard Winter LLP. Darrell practises Insurance Defence Litigation and specializes in defending Insurers in all insurance defence matters.

Darrell appears frequently at all levels of Court in Ontario, including both Jury and non-Jury Trials. Darrell also frequently appears at Administrative Tribunals in Ontario.

Over his career, Darrell has conducted multiple trials before the Superior Court of Justice. In addition, Darrell has completed approximately 100 to 125 Administrative Tribunal Arbitrations which have generated decisions.

Darrell successfully argued Pires v. Zurich at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. This has set the standard for Insured’s repayment of benefits to an Insurance Company. Darrell has also successfully argued Athanasiadis v. Zurich, which was one of the first cases where costs were awarded to the Insurance Company at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
