Description
Hugh MacKinnon is the Chair Emeritus of Bennett Jones. He served on the firm’s Partnership Board from 1999 to 2023 and was the firm’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2023. He had previously served as the firm’s Toronto Managing Partner for five years.

Hugh is Chair of the Board of the C.D. Howe Institute, Co-Chair of the Canada Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington D.C. and Chair of the Advisory Board of Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year. He is also past Chair of the Ontario Brain Institute, the Collegium of the University of St. Michael’s College (Toronto), the Chesterton Institute at Seton Hall University, New Jersey, and has served with numerous other social, professional and business organizations. He is a member of the Law Societies of Upper Canada, Alberta and England and Wales.
