Sole practitioner. Following 34 years with a firm of 10 to 14 lawyers John now limits his practice to advice, representation and mediation for business and institutional clients on a broad range of issues. Clients find his skills are useful in negotiating agreements and drafting related documentation. They also seek his help in risk management, including the development of bylaws and policies. Through experience, he has gained practical insight into the challenges facing public sector organizations, such as conflict of interest and confidentiality.

In addition, John

• is trained in in Mediation, and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution;

• holds a BV rating by Martindale Hubbell; and

• is certified by The Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Corporate and Commercial Law.

Over the years he has been involved in volunteer work, serving on the Board of St. Joseph’s General Hospital for eleven years as a board member, two as Chair. More recently John served for six years as a Trustee, two as Board Chair, of the Thunder Bay Community Foundation. Within the legal sphere John served on the executive of the Thunder Bay Law Association for six years, two as President.

John continues to volunteer. He is a longstanding member of the Financial Advisory Committee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Thunder Bay. He is also a member of the Solicitor’s Advisory Group for the Law Society of Upper Canada. He serves as both a Coach and an Advisor under the Coach Advisory Network (CAN) established by LSUC.
