Description
Jordan Fremont is a partner in the Pensions & Benefits Group. Jordan regularly advises on a broad range of pensions, benefits and executive compensation matters, with a focus on pension, benefits and compensation plan design, compliance, governance, administration, regulatory investigations, employee and plan member disputes, and business transactions, including downsizings, spin-offs, mergers and acquisitions and wind-ups. Jordan also regularly advises on employment-related tax issues.

Jordan is frequently called upon by media outlets to provide insights on the latest legal developments regarding pensions and benefits in Canada.

Professional Activities
Jordan has a long history of board and volunteer work within the pension and benefits industry, having held several leadership roles with the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute, including serving on their Ontario Regional Council and their National Board of Directors. Currently, Jordan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pension Office of the Anglican Church of Canada, a trustee for the Anglican Church’s pension and benefits plans, a member of the Benefits Canada Pension & Investment Advisory Board, and a member of the Federal Council of the Association of Canadian Pension Management. Jordan has also served many years on the Executive of the Pension and Benefits Section of the Ontario Bar Association.
Background
Before joining Stikeman Elliott, Jordan was a partner within the pension and benefits practice at another leading Canadian business law firm. Jordan has also previously held positions as a partner within the pension, benefits and compensation practice of one of Canada’s largest management-side labour and employment law firms, and as a management consultant within the human resources advisory practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
