Larry Hurd was born in 1953 and is a 4th generation Albertan.  He has been practising law as a sole practitioner since he was admittted to the bar in 1982. He handles cases in real estate & mortgages, wills & probate, divorce & family law, criminal law, personal injury and civil litigation.He holds six university degrees and diplomas, including a BA in English from Brigham Young University (1976), the joint MBA/LLB from the Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University (1980), an MA in Canadian Studies from Carleton University (1981), an LLM in constitutional law from Osgoode Hall and a GDLD – Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting from Athabasca University (2017). He has been a CFP – Certified Financial Planner since 1990, and was also a mortgage broker for 7 years and a life insurance agent for 4 years. He is currently working on his designation as an RRC – Registered Retirement Consultant. He is the father of three children and three grandchildren. He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in France and Switzerland in 1972-74.  He is also involved with several Christian advocacy groups and political organizations. He has written many articles on various legal topics and is currently working on a book on freedom of religion in Canada.
