Description
Lesley Mercer is counsel practising in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation including class actions, product liability, professional negligence, shareholder disputes and restructuring and insolvency proceedings. Lesley has significant experience defending corporations in complex class and non-class proceedings involving product liability, consumer protection and securities law.

Lesley has appeared at both the trial and appellate courts in Ontario and has acted as counsel before courts in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Professional Activities
Lesley is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society and the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Background
Prior to joining Stikeman Elliott, Lesley was an associate at a large Atlantic Canadian law firm where she was involved in a broad range of civil and commercial litigation, including class action and regulatory litigation. Lesley joined Stikeman Elliott in 2007 as an associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. From 2014-2017, she acted as senior counsel at a large financial institution where she provided strategic advice on a diverse litigation portfolio including competition and consumer protection class actions, banking, fraud recovery and breach of contract disputes.
