Maryam Shahid is an associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group.

Professional Activities
Maryam serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She teaches a course on process and strategy in Commercial Litigation.

Background
Maryam completed a secondment to the Ontario Securities Commission in the General Counsel’s Office. While at the OSC, Maryam had responsibility for reviewing enforcement disputes, corporate finance matters, and take-over bids.

Before joining Stikeman Elliott, Maryam summered and articled at a litigation boutique in Toronto. She then clerked for Justice Sarah Pepall, Justice Katherine van Rensburg and Justice Benjamin Zarnett at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. She also served as law clerk to Justice Andromache Karakatsanis of the Supreme Court of Canada.

During law school, Maryam competed in and won the 2017 Wilson Moot. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law & Equality, which publishes peer-reviewed articles on issues of discrimination in Canada. Maryam earned distinction standing in each of her three years.
