SAMPLE WORK EXPERIENCE
• Defence and plaintiff representation on litigation proceedings relating to construction, environmental, product liability, professional indemnity, transportation and fidelity insurance matters;
• Advising insurers on coverage obligations and pertaining to construction matters, claims relating to natural resource and environmental losses, product liability claims, and professional indemnity, transportation and fidelity matters;
• Acting in defence of class actions including actions against a provincial regulator following a substantial industrial gas explosion located within a metropolitan centre, an international agricultural corporation involving historical usage of certain herbicides;
• Various litigation matters including co-counsel on leading Supreme Court of Canada decision concerning jurisdiction in defamation matters; co-counsel challenging City of Toronto 2010 municipal election due to voting irregularities;
• Acting on civil fraud proceedings, including injunctive relief and asset recovery, for various matters including an international food processor after a multi-million dollar fictitious vendor scheme, a national title insurer after a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud, a national commercial lender after a multi-million dollar student loan fraud, a leading computer memory manufacturer after a multi-million dollar kickback scheme, individual victims of mortgage and real estate frauds, and proceedings to assisted a U.S. receiver after a multi-million dollar securities fraud;
• Securities litigation including assisting with internal investigation of a telecommunications company into granting of share options, advising investors in relation to the 2007 ABCP market collapse, insurance coverage issues concerning funding disputes surrounding settlement of a derivative action commenced in the Delaware Court of Chancery;
• Advising on tort claims, insurance particulars, and labour and employment issues involving employee and public health and safety.
