Description
Susan is a has spent the last ten years of legal practice focusing primarily on family and child welfare law. She has extensive Court experience in the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King’s bench, and the Court of Appeal. She learned the importance of being empathetic to all individuals having to utilize the legal system and has recently taken extensive training in trauma informed justice. She recognizes the areas of improvement the family law system needs and has been an advocate for family law reform so that families can resolve their issues in the healthiest manner possible to minimize the negative impact that children experience during the breakdown of relationship.
Susan is a trained mediator with a focus on trauma informed mediation. She is trained in collaborative family law and has extensive knowledge on how to resolve conflicts outside of Court. She has passion for helping disadvantaged individuals and has volunteered with Edmonton Community Legal Clinic for many years. When she was in law school, she was the president of the Aboriginal Law Student Association (ALSA) and continues to be dedicated to advocating for the rights of Indigenous people.
Susan’s interests include music and singing, travelling and anything comedy.
